MARCH ROUTE UPDATE!

APRIL 15:
TRUMP’S TAX DAY

President Trump still hasn't released his tax returns. That is unacceptable — and 74% of Americans agree.

His administration’s excuse for this unprecedented secrecy?

“People don’t care.”

On Saturday, April 15, 2017
we’re marching to show him:

YES WE CARE.

As Tax March Houston's Call to Action, we encourage our attendees to mail one our All Seeing Eye Magnifying Glass postcards (chosen by our marchers via poll!) to their elected officials. We will have a small amount available at our event, but we encourage those who are able to print them out at home here.

We must remind our elected officials not only that they owe us accountability and transparency, but that our president owes us that same accountability, and transparency, and they can help us achieve that by compelling Donald Trump... Read more...

Tax March/Not One Penny Houston

m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1749888448474588&id=993306320799475#BREAKING: Trump’s budget calls for $777 billion in Medicaid and Affordable Care Act cuts, which would result in millions of Americans losing their health coverage. Why? To pay for his $2 trillion tax giveaway mostly to the wealthy and big corporations. It’s as simple as that folks.

"The tax law passed late last year included slews of changes that will have wide impacts across the U.S. Among them is a likely jump in the numbers of Americans who'll owe taxes when they file 2018 returns. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently issued a report warning that more than 4.5 million taxpayers will come up short next April, unless they act now to adjust their withholding amounts.

This is because the tax law limited or even eliminated many itemized deductions claimed by millions of taxpayers -- nearly 28 million of them for 2017. The biggest contributors to this are the new limits on state and local tax deductions (the SALT deductions), a restriction on the amount you can deduct for home mortgage interest and the elimination of the deduction for job-related expenses.

Those most likely to owe tax for 2018 are those who itemize deductions. The GAO looked closely at this group and provided more clarity as to who it will include. Specifically, married taxpayers who itemize deductions, with two children under age 17, income exceeding $180,000 from one or more jobs and who have $20,000 or more in nonwage income (dividends, interest or capital gains) are highly likely to have to pay additional tax when they file next year."

TL;DR: We're getting screwed.

Good morning!

We’re so close to Tax March Houston 2, and we can’t wait!

We wanted to give you a bit of a run down, so you can be prepared for the event:

9:30-10: pre-march & banner drop rally, welcome, and open mic (or bullhorn, as it were). We invite you to share your issues with and concerns about the #TaxScam with us and your fellow attendees. Please arrive around this time or a little earlier if you’d like to partake in a small poster party. We’ll have posterboard and ~some~ markers but always welcome more so we may pool supplies!

10: march & banner-drop step-off. We will be heading toward the 59 crossover bridge, where we will have at least 2 large prepared banners we’ll need your help dropping! If you’d like to make one or organize with friends to hold up posters that spell something out, that’s welcome, too. We’ll hold our banners & signs for 15-30min, as long as we’re able, so that we may return to the park by 11.

11: key speakers:
Congressman Al Green
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee
Travis Boldt, small business owner, At Your Side Home Care
John Russell Moffitt, theoretical physicist, geologist, & paleontologist
Daniel Cohen, President Indivisible Houston

Post event activities:
We welcome you to join us as we flyer at the Art Car Parade, which will be happening around the City Hall area. We’ll work in small groups for about an hour or so, but you’re welcome to join us no matter how much time you’ve got to give!

We can’t wait to see you THIS Saturday at Emancipation Park! Make sure to grab your friends and join us for a morning of fun, action, and great information!

ACTIVIST GROUP TO HOST MARCH DEMANDING TRUMP’S FULL TAX RETURNS

Enormous Inflatable Trump Chicken to Lead March

Houston - As part of a nationwide event, and accompanied by an enormous, inflatable Donald Trump chicken, Houstonians will take to the streets of downtown on April 15th to demand the release of Donald Trump’s taxes.

The march starts at City Hall, stopping outside Senator Cruz’s office, continuing around the block, and ending back at City Hall, with time for closing speeches and a call to action—mailing our local elected officials postcards demanding greater governmental transparency, more accountability in our elected officials, and the release of our president’s tax returns, reminding them that they work for us. The march will be led by a giant, inflatable Trump chicken, which was crowdfunded by attendees and organizers in just over 24 hours. Organizers have invited speakers from both sides of the aisle and are still awaiting replies from several. Attendance is free and attendees are encouraged to bring family members of all ages, as this is a family-friendly event.

Maddow’s less than impressive news combined with the president’s questionable motives regarding tax reform have only increased Tax March Houston’s resolve to demand the president’s complete tax returns. As the first president in forty years refusing to make his tax returns public, Trump has left America in the dark regarding his personal financial connections and how they have affected or will affect the country he governs.     Read more...

About us

The National Tax March isn't an organization--it's a movement. The White House said no one cares about the President's tax returns. We 're marching because the President must be accountable to the American people. On April 15th, we will demand that Trump act in the public interest and release his returns.

Everyone participating in this Event will be required to abide by all applicable laws and lawful orders of authorities. This Event will be nonviolent and will not involve any civil disobedience or other violation of law.
